How to use this tool
- Enter a complete IPv4 address, such as 192.0.2.1, or IPv6 address, such as 2001:db8::1. Hostnames, abbreviated IPv4 and an address with a /prefix are not accepted.
- The examples use documentation ranges. Replace the example with the address you want to classify, then choose Calculate.
How to read the result
The result shows the normalized address, IP version and address-range classification. Private, loopback, link-local and documentation ranges describe address semantics; they are not country, owner or reputation labels.
What this tool can establish
This tool classifies the address you supply. It does not detect your current public IP, query an ISP database, locate a device or determine whether a VPN is active.
Privacy and data handling
Parsing and classification run in your browser. The submitted address is not sent to this site’s server or stored by this tool.
